What is this?
Metrics are custom data points you create in your library to track numerical values over time. Each metric has a name, type, unit of measurement, and optional description. Once created, you assign metrics to clients who then log values that appear in charts and history tables.
Why is it useful?
Tracking numbers over time reveals real progress that clients might not notice day to day. A body weight chart showing a steady downward trend, or a squat 1RM chart trending upward, gives both you and your client tangible evidence that the program is working.
Step-by-Step Guide
Creating a Metric in the Library
- Go to Library > Metrics
- Click Create Metric
- Enter the name (e.g., "Body Weight", "Waist Circumference", "Squat 1RM")
- Select the type:
- Weight - for body weight and load tracking
- Measurement - for body measurements like circumferences
- Percentage - for values like body fat percentage
- Count - for quantities like daily steps or rep counts
- Time - for durations like sprint times or workout length
- Custom - for anything that does not fit the above categories
- Set the unit (kg, lbs, cm, inches, %, steps, seconds, etc.)
- Add a description (optional) with notes about how to measure or log
- Click Save

Organizing Metrics into Folders
- In Library > Metrics, click Create Folder
- Name the folder (e.g., "Body Composition", "Performance", "Wellness")
- Drag metrics into folders or use Move to Folder
- Folders keep your library organized as you add more metrics

Assigning a Metric to a Client
- Go to the client's profile
- Click the Metrics tab
- Click Assign Metric
- Browse or search your metric library
- Select the metric and click Assign
- The metric now appears in the client's Metrics tab, ready for logging

Assigning Multiple Metrics
You can assign as many metrics as needed to a single client. Common setups include:
- Body composition package: Body Weight, Body Fat %, Waist, Chest, Arms, Thighs
- Performance package: Squat 1RM, Bench 1RM, Deadlift 1RM, Sprint Time
- Wellness package: Sleep Hours, Daily Steps, Stress Level
Editing a Metric
- Go to Library > Metrics
- Click on the metric to edit
- Update the name, type, unit, or description
- Click Save

Things to Note
- Metric data is preserved even if you unassign the metric from a client. Reassigning it restores access to the historical data.
- The same metric template can be assigned to multiple clients. Each client has their own independent data.
- Changing the unit on an existing metric affects how new values are labeled but does not convert existing log entries.
- For binary tracking (done/not done), use Habits instead of Metrics.
FAQs
What is the difference between metric types?
Types help categorize your metrics. The type does not change functionality but helps with organization and may affect how the data is displayed.
Can I delete a metric that has data logged?
Deleting a metric from the library does not remove data already logged for clients. However, use caution as the metric will no longer be available for new assignments.
Can clients create their own metrics?
No. Only coaches can create and assign metrics. This ensures consistent tracking aligned with the coaching plan.
How many metrics can I assign to one client?
There is no hard limit. Assign as many metrics as your coaching program requires.
