Inviting Your First Client

What is this?

This guide shows you how to add clients to your Athli account so they can access their training, check-ins, and messaging through the client mobile app.

Why it matters

Clients need an invite to join your coaching roster. Once invited, they get access to a dedicated mobile app where they can view workouts, log progress, submit check-ins, and message you directly.

Use Cases

  • Adding a new client who just signed up for your coaching
  • Onboarding a group of existing clients from another platform
  • Sending an invite link to a prospective client to get them started

Step-by-Step Guide

Method 1: Add a Single Client

  1. Go to the Athletes page from the sidebar
  2. Click the Add Client button in the top right
  3. Fill in the client's details:
    • Full name (required)
    • Email address (required)
    • Category (Online, Hybrid, or In Person)
    • Goals and any relevant notes
  4. Click Send Invite
  5. The client will receive an email with a link to download the app and create their account

Method 2: Upload Multiple Clients (CSV)

  1. Go to the Athletes page
  2. Click the Upload button (next to Add Client)
  3. Download the CSV template if needed
  4. Fill in your client details in the spreadsheet
  5. Upload the completed CSV file
  6. Review the imported data and confirm
  7. All clients will receive invite emails

  1. Go to the Athletes page
  2. Click Invite Link to generate a shareable link
  3. Copy the link and send it to your client via email, WhatsApp, or any messaging app
  4. When the client opens the link, they are guided through creating their account and joining your roster

What Happens After the Client Joins

Once the client accepts the invite and creates their account:

  1. They appear in your Athletes list with an "Active" status
  2. You can start assigning workouts, programs, and check-ins
  3. They can message you directly through the app
  4. Their profile is ready for you to customize with goals, injuries, and notes

Things to Note

  • Clients need the Athli mobile app (available on iOS and Android) to access their training
  • Each client needs a unique email address
  • Your plan determines how many active clients you can have. Check Settings > Billing for your limit
  • Archived clients do not count toward your client limit

Common Problems

The client says they did not receive the invite email Ask them to check their spam folder. You can also resend the invite from the client's profile page.

I reached my client limit You may need to upgrade your plan or archive inactive clients to free up spots.

The client created an account but does not appear in my list Make sure they used the same email address you invited. If they signed up independently, they will not be linked to your account automatically.


FAQs

Can clients use Athli on a web browser?

The client experience is designed for the mobile app. Coaches use the web app.

Can I remove a client?

Yes. Go to the client's profile, then Settings, and choose to archive or remove them.

Can a client have multiple coaches?

Currently, each client is linked to one coach account.

What information do I need to add a client?

At minimum, you need their full name and email address. Everything else is optional.
