Adding and Deleting Sets

AndreiWritten by Andrei

What is this?

Each exercise in the Workout Builder can have multiple sets. You can add sets to increase volume, delete sets you do not need, and choose whether sets share the same values (linked) or have individually customised values (unlinked).

Why is it useful?

Different training goals require different set configurations. A strength block might call for 5 sets of 3 reps at the same weight, while a hypertrophy pyramid might need 4 sets each with different reps and weights. The set management tools give you full control over how each exercise is programmed.

Step-by-Step Guide

Adding Sets

  1. Open the Workout Builder and locate the exercise you want to modify.
  2. Click the Add Set button (typically a "+" icon) below the last set row of that exercise.
  3. A new set row appears with default values. Adjust reps, weight, rest, and other fields as needed.
  4. Repeat to add as many sets as required.

Deleting Sets

  1. Locate the set you want to remove.
  2. Hover over the set row to reveal the delete option.
  3. Click the Delete icon (trash icon or "x") on the right side of the set row.
  4. The set is removed immediately. If the exercise has only one set remaining, that set cannot be deleted without removing the entire exercise.

Linking and Unlinking Sets

When sets are linked, changing the value on one set automatically applies the same value to all other sets for that exercise. This is useful when every set should have identical reps and weight.

When sets are unlinked, each set has independent values. This is essential for pyramid sets, drop sets, or any scheme where reps or weight change between sets.

  1. Locate the link/unlink toggle on the exercise card.
  2. Click to toggle between linked and unlinked modes.
  3. When linked, editing any set value updates all sets.
  4. When unlinked, each set row can be edited independently.

Things to Note

  • Newly added sets inherit the values of the previous set by default, saving you time when programming identical sets.
  • Deleting a set cannot be undone in a single click, so double-check before removing.
  • Linked mode is the default for new exercises. Switch to unlinked mode before entering varying values.
  • The number of sets is displayed on the exercise card for quick reference.
  • Warm-up sets are managed separately and do not affect your working set count.

FAQs

What happens if I link sets after entering different values? Linking sets after entering different values will synchronise all sets to match the first set's values. Make sure you intend to overwrite before linking.

Can I add sets to exercises inside a superset? Yes. Each exercise within a superset, triset, or giant set can have its own number of sets managed independently.

Is there a maximum number of sets per exercise? There is no strict maximum, but the interface is optimised for typical training volumes. Extremely high set counts remain functional but may require scrolling.

Do added sets sync to the client's app immediately? Changes are saved when you save the workout. Once saved, the updated sets will be visible to the client the next time they open the workout in the mobile app.
