Copying and Pasting Workouts

AndreiWritten by Andrei

What is this?

The Workout Builder allows you to duplicate existing workouts, save workouts to your library for reuse, and copy workouts between different clients. This means you can create a workout once and apply it to multiple clients or programmes without rebuilding it from scratch each time.

Why is it useful?

Many coaches use similar workout templates across clients, adjusting only the weights or rep ranges. Being able to duplicate and reuse workouts saves significant time, especially when onboarding new clients or building periodised programmes. It also ensures consistency across your coaching practice.

Step-by-Step Guide

Duplicating a Workout

  1. Navigate to your workout list or the programme view where the workout is located.
  2. Click the three-dot menu (or context menu) on the workout card.
  3. Select Duplicate from the dropdown menu.
  4. A copy of the workout is created with all exercises, sets, reps, weights, and section configurations intact.
  5. Open the duplicated workout and make any necessary adjustments (e.g., changing weights or exercise substitutions).

Saving a Workout to Your Library

  1. Open the workout you want to save.
  2. Click the Save to Library option (available in the workout menu or toolbar).
  3. Give the workout a descriptive name and optional tags for easier searching later.
  4. The workout is now stored in your workout library, accessible when building programmes for any client.

Using a Library Workout

  1. When building a programme or adding a workout to a client's schedule, click Add from Library.
  2. Browse or search your saved workouts.
  3. Select the desired workout. It is added as a new instance, so changes you make for this client do not affect the library copy.

Copying Workouts Between Clients

  1. Open the source client's programme and locate the workout you want to copy.
  2. Use the Copy or Duplicate action from the workout menu.
  3. Navigate to the target client's programme.
  4. Paste or add the copied workout into the target programme.
  5. Adjust exercise parameters as needed for the new client.

Things to Note

  • Duplicated workouts are independent copies. Editing one does not affect the other.
  • Library workouts serve as templates. Each time you add one to a client, it creates a new instance.
  • When copying between clients, exercise configurations (sets, reps, weights) are preserved, but you should review and adjust weights for the individual client.
  • Custom exercises used in the workout are also included in the copy, provided they exist in your exercise library.
  • Workout notes and section configurations are preserved during duplication.

FAQs

Does duplicating a workout copy the section types too? Yes. All section types (AMRAP, EMOM, Circuit, etc.) and their configurations are preserved in the duplicate.

Can I share a workout with another coach? Workout sharing between coach accounts is not currently supported. Each coach manages their own workout library independently.

If I update a library workout, do existing copies update? No. Library workouts are templates. Once added to a client's programme, they are independent instances. Updates to the library version do not propagate to existing copies.

Can I duplicate an entire programme, not just a single workout? Yes. Programme duplication is handled at the programme level, which copies all workouts within the programme. See the programme management articles for details.
