What is this?
Built-in exercises in Athli include professional video demonstrations sourced from MuscleWiki, a widely used open exercise reference. These videos show proper form and technique for each movement, giving both coaches and clients a visual reference for every exercise. The integration works automatically for all built-in exercises with no setup or configuration required.
Why is it useful?
- Clients see proper form demonstrations directly in the mobile app during workouts
- Reduces the need for coaches to film and upload their own exercise videos for common movements
- Helps prevent injuries by showing correct technique before the client performs the exercise
- Professional quality videos that are consistent and reliable
- Zero setup required: videos are attached to built-in exercises out of the box

Which Exercises Have Videos
- All built-in exercises in the Athli library include MuscleWiki video demonstrations.
- Custom exercises do not have MuscleWiki videos. For custom exercises, you can upload your own video or image. See the article on creating custom exercises for details.
No Setup Required
The MuscleWiki integration is built into Athli. There is nothing you need to enable, configure, or pay for. Every built-in exercise comes with its video demonstration ready to use.
Things to Note
- MuscleWiki videos are attached to built-in exercises only. Custom exercises require you to upload your own media.
- Videos play within the app. Clients do not need to leave the app or visit an external website.
- Built-in exercises and their videos are read-only. You cannot change the video on a built-in exercise. If you want a different video for a specific movement, duplicate the exercise and upload your own.
- The videos show general proper form. If you want clients to perform a movement with specific modifications, consider creating a custom exercise with your own demonstration video.
- Video playback requires an internet connection on the client's device.
FAQs
Do I need to set up the MuscleWiki integration?
No. It works automatically for all built-in exercises. There is no setup, configuration, or additional cost.
Can I replace a MuscleWiki video with my own?
Not directly on a built-in exercise, since built-in exercises are read-only. However, you can duplicate the exercise and upload your own video to the copy.
Do clients need a MuscleWiki account?
No. The videos are embedded within Athli. Clients do not interact with MuscleWiki directly.
What if a built-in exercise does not have a video?
The vast majority of built-in exercises include video demonstrations. If a specific exercise does not have one, you can duplicate it and upload your own video.
Do the videos work offline?
Video playback requires an internet connection. The videos are streamed when the client taps to view them.
Are the videos available in the coach web app as well?
Yes. You can view exercise demonstration videos in the coach web app when browsing the exercise library, not just in the client mobile app.
